I sorta stumbled into writing Contemporary Romantic Comedy when my first agent told me
that if I stopped trying to steal something or kill or possess a character and simply wrote
my usual type of storyline, that I had a romantic comedy.
She proved it to me by selling Berkley on the idea of my writing three books where the
hero was from the country and the heroine was a city girl. The series was called "Different
Worlds." I wrote it as Lisa Dane.
But that got me started telling more contemporary stories. I call them comedies because I
hate to read stories if there is no sense of humor. Some stories it's more overblown than
others, but it's there. I like to dish out a bit of information, too. For instance, what do YOU
know about the earliest federal "highway", the National Road? I had a hero who wanted to
find a house on it...preferably one with a woods full of grapevines to lure the heroine to his
side.
Frequently, so are children. Not everyone thinks adding kids to a romance is a good idea,
but speaking as a former stepmother, I think the most romantic thing a person can do is fall
in love with their new partner's children from a previous marriage.
But sometimes, I leave the offspring to be created in the future, as happened when Tim
Starling decided he'd made a big mistake in the past and needed to get Roni Dey back in
his life ...forever!
There is a new romantic comedy in the works, and yes, it has kids in it -- three in fact. It also
has an ex-husband getting in the hero's way.

You probably realize by now that I can't let out-of-print stories just disappear. So, yes, some of these titles are available once more.
Seducing Santa, Mr. Far From Perfect, Ring in the New and Mr. Angel are all available in trade paperback and via Kindle and Nook through Amazon and at other
online bookstores. Covers may vary as I keep changing them.
Fortune and Folly will be back in print late in 2011 and A Week 'Til The Wedding will also reappear Spring 2012
Unfortunately, as much as I love the Different World's stories, I don't own them so they can't be re-released unless Berkley ever decides to do so. You can still
find them at used book stores, particularly those online.
