| Romantic Suspense by Beth Henderson NIKROVA'S PASSION (revised edition with added text) 3 Media Press, ISBN 978-0-6151-7671-0 December 2007 Currently available in E-book format and Trade paperback "I think the thing I loved most about Nikrova's Passion was Anne's spicy yet vitriolic personality. Not one to give up easily, Anne leads the men on a merry chase. The suspense, as well as the romance is well scripted. The descriptions of England's landmarks are described so well you feel as though you are right there. I especially got a charge out of Rob's playboy ways getting completely derailed by Anne, there were many times I laughed so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes. This was one woman who had no intention of going down easy, and she was darned sure going to make certain both Rob and everyone else for that matter knew it. I am proud to recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romance." Coffee Time Romance Review Jan 2008 and for the earlier version.... NIKROVA’S PASSION M. Evans, ISBN 0-87131-607-2 May 1990 Bursting with energy…Henderson’s debut novel features one remarkably ungainly American artist, a passel of British/American thieves, and a rakish Scotland Yard detective. Kirkus Reviews May 1990 Plenty of action set against the atmospheric British backdrop marks this tantalizing romantic mystery. Henderson offers plausible suspects and red herrings, adroitly keeping her clincher for the end. Neatly executed romantic suspense. Booklist May 1990 For…the most die-hard romance addict. Library Journal May 1990 ARDEN’S TOUCH M. Evans, ISBN 0-87131-640-4 Oct 1990 Currently available in E-book format and Trade paperback Suspecting a hoax [Louisville] TV anchorperson Charlie Arden investigates rumors of ghosts in the transplanted Scottish ancestral home of the MacCrimmon family, where handsome racing magnate Mark MacCrimmon is laird of the manor. Romance combines with suspense in a tale of Highland ghosts suitable for mature readers. Recommended firmly for fans of the genre. Booklist May 1991 QUEEN’S CACHE M. Evans, ISBN 0-87131-650-1 July 1991 Mysterious events in Aden, on the Arabian coast, and a chase across the breadth of the U.S. find Valentina Crosby once more entangled in the life of Harry Smith, the man she thought she’d left behind. Once he’d been her only love—well, nearly, as archaeology sometimes came first in her life. Now Harry’s not only back in her life, he’s inadvertently involved her in a search for the tomb of a legendary—and biblical—queen. And Val isn’t sure which is more dangerous, hearing his drawled endearments or dodging bullets. (And as this book was in production when the Gulf War--the first one--broke out, the publisher let it sink into obscurity. Difficult to find since the print run was a bare thousand copies. Too bad, because for the longest time, it was the book I termed my favorite.) Historical Romance by Elizabeth Daniels BIRD OF PARADISE [Circa 1848-1850] Leisure, ISBN 0-8439-3185-X Dec 1991 Sinfully handsome and devilishly sexy, Ben Paradise didn’t buy Lacy Phalen’s story that she was the new schoolmarm in town. He’d get the truth out of the beautiful Boston heiress, even if he had to kiss her senseless to do it. This quick-paced tale is laced with familiar themes, an assortment of adventures, and sexual tension that will keep you pleasantly entertained for an evening. Romantic Times January 1992 PARADISE IN HIS ARMS [Circa 1873] Leisure, ISBN 0-8439-3264-3 May 1992 Continuing the Paradise family saga begun in Bird of Paradise, Ms. Daniels brings readers a charming May-December romance. Though Caleb Innes is old enough to be Kate Paradise’s father (he actually assisted at her birth), nothing deters this determined young woman from going after the man she loves or from protecting her family. Romantic Times May 1992 Historical Romance by Beth Henderson RECKLESS [Circa 1879] Harlequin, ISBN 0-373-28970-7 June 1997 “Beth Henderson’s Reckless is an elegantly told tale that sweeps two appealing characters from San Francisco to England in a Gilded Age shower of mystery and romance. Enjoy! Mary Jo Putney “The salt in your face, the wind in your hair…Beth Henderson is unequaled in her ability to stand you close enough to her characters to get your face wet." Shirley Hailstock Beth Henderson’s mid-19th century shipboard romance has the style and tone of a Regency romance, but with a hint of danger. The novel is smoothly written and skillfully presents the one American period which lends itself to the Austen-like novel of manners. Romantic Times June 1997 Readers will not be Reckless if they spend their money on this brilliant historical romantic intrigue. The lead characters make a huggable pair and the support cast adds multiple dimensions to the novel. The romantic intrigue story line wrapped inside a nineteenth-century historical period piece brings a freshness to both sub-genres. Affaire De Coeur June 1997 WICKED [Circa 1880] Harlequin, ISBN 0-373-29198-1 Feb 2002 Lilly Renfrew wanted to make a difference, wanted to find independence. But when she witnessed a murder she needed more than help—she needed Deegan Galloway! Deegan Galloway of Reckless returns in a tale of mystery, adventure and romance in Victorian San Francisco. What’s truly wicked, and what’s thought to be wicked, race along parallel tracks throughout Beth Henderson’s story of the Barbary Coast and the city that was comfortable as long as crime stayed isolated in one area. A striking setting, believable and appealing characters, a fine mystery and a love that overcomes hidden wickedness all recommend this novel for a pleasurable read. Romantic Times Feb 2002 And a couple reviews I came across on Amazon This engaging mystery, adventure and love story is a quick and easy read. The storyline is based on coming to terms with ones' past and recognizing the future and being content with what is. This tale is also about moving ahead in life despite the cards that are dealt. Very enjoyable! Don't pass up this one! Wicked is as Wicked does and Wicked it is! August 18, 2004 By Nancy Compton (Boise, Idaho) Lilly Renfrew is a dutiful daughter and a not-too-hopeful spinster in San Francisco in the 1880's, but she is also a talented photographer. While taking pictures in the city's notorious Barbary Coast area, Lilly witnesses the murder of a prostitute she had befriended. Fleeing the murderer, she runs into (literally) Deegan Galloway, who hides her and saves her life. Lilly is determined to see justice done and doesn't realize how much in harm's way she is putting herself. Deegan does. He had a former life in the Coast as Digger O'Rourke and he slips back into it to help and protect Lilly, even though he believes his past makes him unworthy of Lilly. She has her own doubts about fitting into what she perceives as Galloway's upper crust world. In addition, she must cope with invalid parents, an interfering sister, and an aloof brother. This is a well written and, as best I can tell, well researched historical romance. Possibly Deegan and Lilly are a little too modern in their thinking, but I don't know that for a fact and it's a minor quibble. The main characters are very likable and many of the supporting characters are noteworthy as well. The villains are dastardly but believable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will look for other work by this author. Wicked Fun March 10, 2002 By M. E. Gray "Hoyden of Haiku" (Newport News, VA) AT TWILIGHT [Circa 1868] Leisure, ISBN 0-8439-5330-6 June 2004 At Twilight is a powerful, unforgettable story—a western that’s at once tender and gritty, passionate and exciting, with a climax that will both shock and uplift. It comes alive with historical details and offers readers a journey of the heart. Romantic Times June 2004 This engaging western romance may sound like an overdone theme, but Beth Henderson freshens up her plot due to the baby making the trek that much more difficult. The story line is action-packed yet character driven as the lead couple has demons (real and imaginative) to overcome before they might pursue their inner feelings. Similar to Three Godfathers with a romantic twist, this is a fine redemption tale that readers will enjoy. Harriet Klausner, www.allreaders.com At Twilight works so well because it has grit. This isn't a western featuring nosey townspeople, quaint misunderstandings, and Little House charm. Ultimately it is the characters and their various emotional states that make this story work. Henderson also writes in some wonderfully developed secondary players that very nearly steal the show. [Henderson's] history and sense of place are evocative, her characters fully fleshed, and she has proven her ability to write gritty plots with this latest effort. This is why readers miss the western romance so much, and why it's still viable in today's market place. Don't miss it! The Romance Reader The main characters of Louisa and J.W. are great examples of strength. Both have gone through disappointment and loss, but they have tried to go on with their lives. They haven't been willing to sit and allow life to happen to them. The great state of Texas makes a stunning backdrop for this story. Well-written and steady paced, Ms. Henderson has delivered a wonderful western. Through her words, we are made to understand the wonder that can happen At Twilight. A Romance Review Henderson's attention to historical detail is thorough, and it really helps set the stage. You can picture the landscape and imagine the people. She captures the mood of a state still coming to grips with the Confederacy's defeat. It actually seems like it really is 1868 -- rather than some amorphous time in the non-descript "Old West." All About Romance A spunky, resourceful widow with a big heart and a man who thinks his heart died with his family make an interesting pair in this ninetenth-century tale of the American West. Fans of western romances by such authors as Rosanne Bittner and Georgina Gentry will enjoy Henderson's novel, too. Ribbons and Rawhide would be worth reading just for its fascinating description of ghost towns. But this novel offers so much more.
